Eddie Lampert bought $56.6 million in Sears Holdings (SHLD) stock from selling LP's at $26.70 per share last week.

The short answer is that he bought out the holders of two liquidating partnerships, and those partnerships primarily hold SHLD, and it looks (about 95% sure) like this was Eddie and not his hedge fund doing the buying.

From "SPE I Partners" purchased 998,326 shares for $26,655,304 (in a $34,120,906 million transaction)

From "SPE Master I" purchased 1,121,380 shares for $29,940,846 (in a $37,032,323 million transaction)

total of 2,119,706 for $56.6 million
